WHAT we do
We exist to ensure that every child in Africa can thrive from their early years through to adulthood.
We stand together
We don’t work alone. Together with partners, supporters, children and their communities, we protect, educate and create lasting change for every child threatened by violence, neglect and conflict.
What is inclusive education?
Inclusive education is an educational approach that seeks to address the diverse needs of all children by ensuring they have equal opportunities to participate in all aspects of school life. It is based on the principle that every child, regardless of their abilities, disabilities, or other differences, should be welcomed and provided with the appropriate support to succeed in a regular educational environment.

By supporting our Inclusive Education work, you can reach children who have fallen through the cracks. Many of the most marginalised children end up leaving education early because local schools and teachers aren’t equipped to give them the support they need. We have developed a range of projects to tackle this.
In schools, we’re working with teachers to identify developmental delays and disabilities in children much earlier, so they can get any additional support they might need. And in communities, we’re working with children and parents to improve enrolment, retention and learning outcomes – giving children the chance to succeed in the classroom.
Safe spaces
Our Safe Spaces are key to making that vision a reality. A safe space is somewhere children can find respite from their daily lives and feel supported by adults they can trust. Creating Safe Spaces isn’t about allocating rooms in schools for specific purposes. It’s about developing a holistic environment where vulnerable children can grow, learn and realise their potential.

That means ensuring children have their basic needs met, so they can focus on school away from dangerous influences on the streets. It means making sure schools and communities have the infrastructure to always provide children with a safe and welcoming environment. It means surrounding children with positive and supportive adults. And it means giving those adults the training and support they need to protect children at risk of neglect, violence and conflict.
Safe Spaces are one of the two key areas of work you could help support. Our work in Africa aims to give every child in a vulnerable situation the chance to thrive from their early years and beyond. We’re determined that no child should ever have to fight for a safe, happy childhood.
Our Safe Spaces projects are all about sustainable, long-term work that helps communities, schools and families change how children in vulnerable situations are seen, treated and cared for. From helping street-connected children escape crime, abuse and exploitation – to making sure children experiencing disabilities are given the same chances as their peers – your support could help fund incredible projects like these.
