Can you imagine having to choose between sending your child to school or sending them on to the streets to beg for food? Right now, the most vulnerable families are facing this heart-breaking decision. In Kenya, we’ve seen children regularly skipping meals because their families don’t have enough food. There is no furlough scheme or financial support. Families have lost their income overnight.
Will you double your donation and help to heal the scars of Covid-19?
The long-term nature of the pandemic is leaving devastating scars for vulnerable children. Children already marginalised by society are falling further out of reach. Children with disabilities in Rwanda have lost years of progress being isolated in lockdown. Women and girls in Kenya are facing more violence and abuse at home, leaving them with lasting trauma. Children affected by war in DR Congo face never being able to return to school.
While wealthy countries are undertaking national vaccine rollouts, with plans to return to normal life, the future is still uncertain for the most vulnerable children. There will be no ‘return to normal’ for the many of the communities we support. Vaccine rollouts are slow. And marginalised children, like children with disabilities hidden away from society, are likely to be missed completely. Covid-19 has widened inequalities and vaccine rollouts will only deepen these divisions.
Your support is more vital than ever. And between 17th-28th May your donations will go twice as far through our Big Chance campaign! Thanks to our generous donors, every pound you donate will be matched until we hit our £36,000 target. A donation of £25 will be doubled to £50, which could provide a meal for 100 children on the streets of Mombasa, Kenya. Donate now and help to heal the scars of Covid-19.

£25 doubled to £50 could provide a meal for 100 children on the streets
Children in Kenya skipped a meal twice last week on average. Children living or working on the streets may go weeks without a proper meal. With your donation doubled, you can reach even more children in need of healthy, nutritious food.
How it works
To get your donation doubled simply make a donation online through our website or make a call to us on 01483 230 250 and donate over the phone between 17th-28th May.
All money raised through the Big Chance campaign is unrestricted, meaning that funds can be spent where there is the biggest need. Donations are doubled by our £18,000 pot of matched funds. £13,000 is made up of pledges from our generous anonymous donors while Chance for Childhood has contributed the remaining £5,000 through our unrestricted funds. This pot of matched funds allows us to double your donations, meaning we can raise more for the vulnerable children we support. If we don’t hit our target, all funds raised will still be used for the purpose of the campaign.
The Big Chance campaign means we can continue to be there for children throughout this crisis and respond flexibly. It’s an opportunity for your donation to go further at this unprecedented time of need.

£55 doubled to £110 could buy textbooks and workbooks for 25 young children
Children in Accra spent most of 2020 out of school. But for street-connected children in Ghana, education is their only way to escape the cycle of poverty. Your support could help them get back on track.
