A big crisis requires a big response
With the outbreak of the COVID-19 global pandemic, there has never been a greater need for our work. Already marginalised children are now at even greater risk and facing bigger challenges. We are determined to do everything we can to support the vulnerable children and communities we work with.
We’re excited to announce that a very generous partner has pledged an additional £3,500 of matched funds! This means we can keep doubling your donations! Please help us reach our target of £37,000 by donating today. At this difficult time every donation really does make a difference and will enable us to reach so many more vulnerable children at a time when they need us most.
Your support has never been more important to help us ensure that we can be there for children. Children like Shema, who is currently in lockdown and unable to access the food and development support he used to receive at an Early Childhood Development Centre supported by Chance for Childhood.
Will be doubled to £90 which could provide masks for 100 vulnerable people in DRC
of children are out of school worldwide because of COVID-19. Help us to reach the most vulnerable today and your impact will go twice as far.
Children like Shema deserve better
For the first few years of his life, Shema’s mother struggled to look after him. Shema, now seven years old, has severe learning difficulties and needs extra care and attention. He became malnourished and without the proper support, Shema couldn’t walk and could barely communicate.
Thankfully, Shema was able to get the right help at one of the Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres we support in Rwanda. Here he got the developmental help that was right for him, and started to learn to walk. For the first time he was happy as he could play with other children! Shema could also eat properly, with a healthy diet to combat malnutrition.
But, in March, the ECD centre was forced to temporarily close because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. This means that Shema has had to leave. Now, back at home, Shema and his mother are struggling to eat once again.
Will be doubled to £30 and could provide an emergency food package for a young mother and child who are facing hunger on the streets of Accra
