Your Zakat will be restricted to supporting children in Ghana to make sure they have access to safety, and education. Across two of our projects in Ghana we are supporting 3 Islamic Schools and over 500 children to have the best start in life. Your support will be restricted to these two projects in Ghana working with these Islamic communities.
Our work in Ghana
Ghana is leading the way in education in Africa, being one of the few countries to have free compulsory Kindergarten education for 4–6-year-olds. However, evidence shows that children experiencing disabilities are not benefiting from this valuable learning opportunity. This is because only 25% of teachers have received formal training, resulting in just 2% of Kindergarten children leaving with the expected development levels for their age.
Together with your support, we are working with partners to train 50 teachers over 4 districts in play-based learning. We will assess 500 children for learning needs and disabilities and use inclusion techniques to ensure all children have access to quality early education. We will also work with the families of children identified as having disabilities and refer them to local services.
