As 2014 comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for all your support over the past twelve months and highlight some of the great things that you’ve helped to achieve.
A year of change:
We began 2014 by announcing a change to our name and we’ve have been overwhelmed by the warm and positive response it has received. We are so pleased that the name ‘Chance for Childhood’ has already brought greater attention to our work and that of our outstanding teams based in some of the world’s most hard-to-reach places.
A year of championing:
In May we travelled to Patongo with our fantastic patron, Milton Jones. And, since witnessing our work first-hand, Milton’s blogs and words of encouragement have helped us spread the word about our small but crucial charity.
A year of pride:
We have been especially proud of our marathon runners, our bike riders, and our volunteers whose passion, dedication and commitment has enabled us to make a real and lasting difference to many children’s lives.
A year of growth:
Our team has grown, both here and within East Africa. We have become more focused and responded to learning thorough evaluations, helped by newrigorous partnerships such as with the University of Manchester Met.
A year of partnerships, old and new:
As well as being very fortunate to receive the continued support of our long-standing sponsor Think Money, we also began a new relationship with Dow Chemical Group who are developing very exciting plans in Uganda. We are delighted to have received our second grant from Comic Relief which will enable us to implement our vital ‘Justice for Children’ work throughout the whole of Northern Uganda.
A year of greater financial stability:
Although our ambitions to do more and reach more children have grown, we have remained a very small and committed team. We prioritised using our funds to help children living in dire circumstances rather than on fancy communications and advertising, as you can see when we publish our accounts early next year.
Careful financial planning means that we will close the year with a much increased income compared to twelve months ago, and we’ll have reached many more children as a result, focusing on quality interventions and not just numbers.
For an exceptional year, we thank you.
None of the above would be possible without your support. No matter how big or small your contribution, we can’t tell you how grateful we are.
Thank you for walking with us hand-in-hand and for believing in our vision of a world where children and young people finally get the childhood they deserve.
So here’s wishing you a very happy Christmas and blessings from all of us at Chance for Childhood.
