Frugi selects Chance for Childhood as their Chosen Children’s Charity!

6 June 2018

Following a tough competition, Chance for Childhood is delighted to launch a new partnership with Frugi, an organic children’s clothing company that donates 1% of its turnover to charity. Frugi’s Little Clothes BIG Change appeal will support our Kinbu nursery for street children in Accra, Ghana’s capital.

In Accra, there are an estimated 61,500 street children at risk of physical and sexual abuse, human trafficking and child labour. These children are often seen as a burden to society; not as children being deprived of basic needs and needing protection, care and love.

Imagine being a toddler living on the streets: your mum has to work to earn as little as 8p per day. You live in a slum with no running water and get one meal a day if you’re lucky…

The support of Frugi and their customers will be a tremendous help to provide vulnerable young children with a safe, loving environment away from the streets, a quality pre-school education and three nutritious meals a day. These children will then have a better chance to access school and break the cycle of poverty later in life.

Helene Weston, Frugi Marketing Coordinator, says: “We are very excited to be working with Chance for Childhood this year as part of our Little clothes BIG change charity initiative. The Frugi charity committee shortlisted applications from over 200 charities and then asked everyone at Frugi to vote for the charity they felt our donations could make the biggest difference to…Chance for Childhood was the clear winner! We can’t wait to see what the year brings. ”

Anna-mai Andrew, Chance for Childhood CEO, comments “We are delighted to have been chosen by Frugi to be their Children’s Charity, as we feel we share similar values and ethos. Their amazing clothes are designed to let children be children and have fun. Just like them, we’re passionate about giving children their childhood back!”

Every little thing you buy from Frugi helps to make a BIG difference! So, if you would like street children in Ghana to benefit from your support, shop online at www.welovefrugi.com and select ‘Chance for Childhood’ at the checkout.
