Having dropped out of school and struggling to survive, eight-year-old Harrison was one of thousands of children in Kenya facing the harsh reality of life on the streets. Thanks to the LeapTogether project, Harrison has turned his life around and is now on the path to a brighter future. Madame Elizabeth, his Learning Support Assistant (LSA), has played a pivotal role in his journey.
Elizabeth is passionate about helping children in the community. She has seen how street life can be a hopeless and helpless place for children; and is committed to providing them with the support they need to remain in the community, progress in school and be given the opportunity to live a full and meaningful life.
Harrison is now eager to learn. He tells us, “I want to work hard in my studies, I want to learn.”
And even Harrison’s father has noticed a dramatic transformation in his son:
“It’s a total turnaround, he’s now always busy at home, just busy doing his schoolwork, even during weekends.”
Harrison’s remarkable journey is a testament to the power of education and his LSA Elizabeth is an inspiration to us all. Her commitment reminds us that we should always believe in the boundless potential of every child, no matter the challenges they face or where they start in life.
